Liverpool used home shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo) three seasons, 1982-83, 1983-84 & 1984-85.
Liverpool used home shirt (big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines) two seasons, 1982-83 & 1983-84.
Liverpool used home shirt (small CROWN PAINTS logo two lines) one season, 1983-84.
Liverpool used home shirt (CROWN PAINTS logo one lines) two seasons, 1983-84 & 1984-85.

Main change this different size CROWN PAINTS logo. In some home & away matches was used home shirt, but I now not know which design home shirt was used (different size CROWN PAINTS logo).

In season 1983-84, Liverpool used home shirt with special embroidery, this was for match European Cup Final (30.05.1984).

In Charity Shield (20.08.1983) match was used simple home shirt (photo in top left page, Sammy Lee H 1.4), in shirt not was special embroidery to this match. The special embroidery as was absent in matches Charity Shield 1971, 1974, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992 & 1994. Liverpool also played in 60's Charity Shield matches, but and this matches used simple shirt, without special embroidery.

In League Cup Final (25.03.1984) and League Cup Final Replay (28.03.1984) match was used simple home shirt (photo in top left page, Kenny Dalglish H 1.3), in shirt not was special embroidery to this match. The special embroidery as was absent in matches League Cup Final 1981, 1982, 1983 & 1984.

The shirt shown in image 1 is the standard home shirt with no sponsor's logo at all, This shirt was worn when in certain televised and European games from the first season of 1982-83 including the Milk Cup, FA Cup etc, However it was used throughout the shirts 3 year life when for the reasons stated above as well as different countries laws on advertising by sportsmen did not allow them to wear a sponsored shirt.

The shirt shown in image 2 is the first Crown Paints sponsored shirt to be worn by Liverpool, The logo was a white transfer type material that was put straight onto the front of the shirts, This shirt was worn for the whole of the 1982-83 season, It was also worn for the start of the 1983-84 season up to around Christmas.

During the 1983/84 season the FA somewhat relented to club pressure when it was decided that clubs could display sponsors logos on the front of their shirts in certain televised games as well as English competitions, However the size of the sponsors logo could not be more than 7cm in height, This presented a problem to Liverpool whose sponsors logo seen in image 2 was around 10cm, To overcome this obstacle Liverpool decided to order a new stock of shirts from Umbro with a new smaller Crown Paints logo, This is seen in image 3 and as can be seen is quite a bit smaller than the original logo.

This was then worn during some of the early part of the 1983-84 season, When it was then decided by Crown Paints and Liverpool that the logo on the front of the shirts was so small it just could not be seen on TV or by the fans, And the words could not be read by anyone watching, Crown Paints were worried they were not getting the best from the deal, To overcome this new obstacle the only choice left open to Liverpool and Crown Paints was to redesign their logo once more, One way around this was to write 'Crown Paints' across one line of the shirt instead of two, Thus the letters could be a lot taller and the company name could then be read much easier by anyone at home watching TV.

However as Liverpool had just taken delivery quite recently of a whole new stock of shirts with the small logo seen in image 3 there was not the funds to order and produce a complete new stock of shirts once more that season, To get around this the logo was printed onto a thin piece of similar red cloth, This was then stitched onto the front of the plain type of shirt seen in image 1, The end result was the classic one line Crown Paints shirt seen here in image 4. It was first seen in the winter of 1983 and was used up until the shirt was changed in the summer of 1985.  (The text is taken with nonexistent already a site.)

May be with 12 December 1983, Liverpool in first played in home shirt new design Crown Paints logo, logo in one line.

As that is not strange, but, the difference in big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines is found out, not so long ago (26.01.2014). Me about it was written by Michael Yip (www.liverpoolkits.com).
You can to see two variants home shirt. 1st variant Steve Nicol (left photo). 2nd variant John Wark (right photo). Different in highly between UMBRO logo-Liverbird L.F.C. and CROWN PAINTS logo. Two variants this home shirt was used in Liverpool matches, how in season 1982-83, as and season 1983-84.
In season 1982-83, more photos when Liverpool players dressing in home shirt with big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines 1st variant and not as more 2nd variant. First photo what I to find home shirt with big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines 2nd variant, was photo with home Division One match versus Notts County (01.01.1983), on photo was Ian Rush (it does not mean, that I cannot be mistaken).
In season 1983-84, have more photos when Liverpool players dressing in home shirt with big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines how 1st variant, as and 2nd variant.
Read more here.

The shirt shown here is a number 9 Ian Rush players issue shirt from this era, This can be seen by the fully embroidered badges shown below, As you can see this issue of shirt has the Crown Paints logo on one line as opposed to two which can be seen top. As you can also see the way in which the Crown Paints logos are attached to the Liverpool shirts was extremely crude, It was literally another piece of material stitched right across the front of the shirt.

Interesting fact. Home player shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo) not as more in open collection (collection which can to see in Internet). Why as it is not enough. I think, what on more clear home shirt late was made CROWN PAINTS logo different variants. I now not have information, what  CROWN PAINTS logo was made in Umbro factory.

Interesting fact. In some collections Liverpool F C shirts, have home shirts with felt UMBRO logo and Liverbird, his replica shirts. Of other side, this shirts have sticed player number, on left photo, have  № 4, in center photo how you can to see № 2. Write what this shirt was used in matches. What I think, for time when I write about history Liverpool F C kits, was more matches when Liverpool used replica shirt. As can and in this shirts was used, interesting, what this shirts full signed, in my head only one idea, this shirt was used in friendly Charity match, after the termination which Liverpool players have undersigned on them.

May be what have photos, when on Liverpool players dress this shirt, I shall be very grateful, contact us.

Interesting fact. Winner Division One team photo after home match versus Norwich City (15.05.1984), to see, some Liverpool player dress in tracksuit top seasons 1980 to 1983, other Liverpool player dress in tracksuit top season 1983-84.

How to distinguish a home shirt of a season 1982-83, from a shirt of a seasons 1983-84 & 1984-85, very difficultly, only for different variants CROWN PAINTS logo.

This list when Liverpool players used home shirts will update when will new information.

Left to right: 1st image, embroidered club emblem. 2nd image, player number use on Liverpool shirt. 3rd image, special embroidery for match European Cup Final.

BEWARE: Once again do not be fooled by those sellers who claim that they are selling a match worn shirt because the badges are embroidered. Many replicas sold in the shops back in 1982 had both embroidered Umbro Logos and embroidered Liverbirds. A genuine player shirt should have embroidered badges, but also WORDED sizings on the neck label.

I now not know have home replica shirt with small CROWN PAINTS logo two lines or CROWN PAINTS logo one line, which was used in season 1983-84.
