  1984-85 Away players shirt

  Manufacturer: Umbro

  Club sponsor: Crown Paints

  Years worn: 1984

In this away shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo) Liverpool played in neutral World Club Championship match versus Independiente (Argentina), 0-1, 09.12.1984, at National Stadium, Tokyo, Japan.

In World Club Championship (09.12.1984) match was used simple away shirt (photo in top left page, Ronnie Whelan A 1.1), in shirt not was use special embroidery to this match. The special embroidery as was absent in matches World Club Championship 1981 & 1984.

On this moment have two variant World Club Championship away shirt:
4 - Away shirt: with embroidered UMBRO logo amd Liverbird, without CROWN PAINTS logo, collar label tag “97 - 102 cm" or “107 cm 42 inch" (2) amd without machine-stitched player number – I else not to see this shirt.
5 - Away shirt: with embroidered UMBRO logo amd Liverbird, with CROWN PAINTS logo, collar label tag “107 cm 42 inch" (2) and with machine-stitched player number – may be used for player. We now do not know, who in club or, most likely under the request of club, was engaged in sewing of game numbers. Probably, have mixed shirts which intended for representation needs (gifts for members of club or from club).

In player shirts, the size information is printed in words (1) instead of numbers on the collar label tag (middle). Left, of numbers label tag for replica shirt (3). Right, of numbers label tag (2), can to see how on replica shirt with ironed Liverbird crest and UMBRO logo, as and on away shirt with embroidered Liverbird crest and UMBRO logo (on this shirt have machine-stitched player number).
