Home players shirt
Manufacturer:
Years worn: 1919-34
In this design home shirt Liverpool first played in ...
In a season 1919-20 the design home shirt has changed. Liverpool used home shirt
fifteen seasons, 1919-20 to 1930-34 (time of use home shirt is probably inexact).
Liverpool used home shirt how in all home, as and in more away matches.
H 1.0 - Home shirt with home shorts & home socks.
H 1. 0 * - Unknown me now which kits used in this
matches, but I assume used home shirt with home shorts & home socks.
* * - Unknown me now which kits used in this matches.
Left black-white photo (with site lfchistory.net). Right color card (with site cartophilic-info-exch.blogspot.com). If to see all sigarette card with clubs this seria. Difficult
understand, real color socks on card or not if back Liverpool card, Then you will see that
Jock McNab is not colored. Which was on Liverpool players socks, red or black, I not know.
Course on this cards can was mistakes in display Liverpool
kits.
This fragment card for magazine “BOYS’ MAGAZINE”, if to
see on original photo (top left), you can to see they different. In back row, second
player (John Lillie) in right in shirt, but in original photo in jacket. Some time on old
photos or image can to find surprize.
There was little change to the home strip during this
period the only difference being the addition of white lining inside the laced collar of
the red home shirt.

on card which printed in 1925 (with site vintagefootballers.com). Difficult say, was stripes on socks in original photo. Or color socks
annd stripes this the liberty of the artist. |
Fragment sketch with FA Cup
match vs Southampton.(23.02.1924), how you know in away matches versus teams with
red-white stripes shirt, Liverpool used alternastive shirt. In 20s years was not as. Need
to use any form of information.
Lace collar used in seasons
1909-19.
Lace collar used in seasons
1919-34, of white lining inside the laced collar.
This of course not Liverpool
shirt, this rare Arsenal shirt with FA Cup Final 1927 (I without Arsenal emblem with
shirt). Why to do this shirt, simple what you know as the shirt of those times really
looks. Besides, most likely (proofs are not present), Liverpool used shirts made by firm
"Bukta", dominating at that time.
Lace collar used in seasons
1919-31, of white lining inside the laced collar.
I think for all 15th seasons when Liverpool used this design home shirt, this home
shirt made with some echanges (on a collar and thickness of a fabric).

Third players shirt
Manufacturer:
Years worn: 1923-24
In this design third shirt Liverpool first played in away Division One match versus
Burnley, 0-2, 22.09.1923, at Turf Moor.
My pages about history of Liverpool shirts in 20th years,
most likely, contain mistakes in dating use of a away kits. Why it is difficult, not so it
is a lot of photos (at me) these years and very little where there is a date when the
photo is made. It concerns also a photo of a Liverpool team.
In a season 1923-24 the design third shirt has changed. Liverpool used third shirt
one seasons, 1923-24 (time of use third shirt is probably inexact).
T 1.0 - Third shirt with home shorts & home socks.
Why on my site you can read "Third player
shirt", only for classification of the kits. This shirts cardinally different in
design with"Away player shirt".
In spring 2020 I to find on site (historicalkits.co.uk) next message.
The Liverpool Echo (22 September 1923) reported that
Liverpool wore white shirts with Cambridge Blue sleeves at Burnley. The following season
they reverted to plain white jerseys with red trimmings when required to change.
I think this kit used only one match, versus Burnley. Second,
this kit, is away Burney kit. How I think Liverpool to visit in Burnley with red shirt,
but referee banned playing in this color of shirts. This only my assume.
I also have a question about the color of socks.
Photo with away Division One match versus Arsenal, at
Highbury (01.03.1924). Liverpool players: Elisha Scott, may be Tommy Lucas, John McNab.
(Image with site playupliverpool.com) Now you can to see, Liverpool
played in the usual away kit. This know only one, what in Burnley, Liverpool to arrived
with a red shirt.
Players, and later clubs, generally bought their playing kit
from local sports outfitters. The kits were often locally made by the outfitters or small
garment manufacturers. Bukta, founded in 1879, were the first mass manufacturer of
football kits, and remained so until Humphrey Brothers Clothing were formed in 1920 in
Wilmslow, Cheshire. In 1924 they became Umbro. Although these two Companies came to
dominate the market they relied upon distributors and the local sports outfitters rather
than supplying clubs direct.

In a season 1922-23 the design away shirt has changed. Liverpool used away shirt
fourteen seasons, 1922-23 to 1935-36 (time of use away shirt is probably inexact).
Big question, color socks which played Liverpool inseason 1923-24, David Moors
(historicalkits.co.uk) think what Liverpool played in red socks, I think may be
color socks was other, may be black. I else not to see in newspaper or Liverpool
programmes about this information. If know what any, write to me, I will glad any
information.

Lace collar used in season
1928-29.
I think for all 14th season when Liverpool used this design away shirt, this away
shirt made with some echanges (on a collar and thickness of a fabric).
May be socks which used Liverpool was black color, I as
assume. in 20s years have some color cards when on Liverpool players socks was are
painted in black color, course in life all can was different (to see in below). Course of
may be I mistake and and the artist drew without knowing objective
information, not only about Liverpool.
Now I have photo with away match
Arsenal-Liverpool (02.09.1922, photo in top left page, may be Donald McKinlay A 1.0).
Left image, fragment of "Gallaher's Cigarettes Footballers" (1927) card

red socks.
Right image, fragment of "Gallaher's Cigarettes Footballers" (1928) card
with away Aston Villa-Liverpool (07.01.1928), on photo Donald McKinlay and Tommy Lucas,
Liverpool used away shirt with home shorts and black socks. Used this away kits in away
match versus Aston Villa and Arsenal in season 1922-23, I now not know.
Also on this moment not know which shirts was used in away matches season 1922-23
versus Sunderland, Burnley, Sheffield United and Stoke City. Page will update if will new
information. Course on this cards can was mistakes in display

Home goalkeepers shirt
Manufacturer:
Years worn: with ?, 1923-24 to ?
In this home goalkeeper shirt Liverpool first played in ...
In general difficultly in detail to write about these years
Liverpool, but I shall return to this stage of their history and I shall write more in
detail. May be all not as, how I has written.
In a season ? the design home goalkeeper shirt has changed. Liverpool used home
goalkeeper shirt ? season, ? (time of use goalkeeper shirt is probably inexact). Liverpool
used home goalkeeper shirt how in home, as and in away matches.
In season 1923-24, in home and away matches Liverpool can used with home goalkeeper
shirt & away shorts (black, navy or gray).
H G 1.0 - Home goalkeeper shirt with away shorts &
socks.
H G 1.0 * - Home goalkeeper shirt with home shorts
& socks
Of course in 20-30-40-50s years goalkeepers played not in goalkeeper shirt, they
played in woolen a sweater. Sweaters was different colors, but main was green.
If Liverpool field players to go in pitch with season 1939-40
in shirts with player numbers, Liverpool goalkeepers played in this season how and late in
goalkeeper shirts without player number. Only with season 1974-75, on Liverpool goalkeeper
shirt can to see player number.
Now not can write, than differs sweater season 1922-23, from sweater season 1931-32
and sweater season 1939-40 (photos below). Course this sweater s can made different
manufacturer, Bukta, Umbro or others.
On Liverpool team pre season photo 1926-27, we to see what
three Liverpool goalkeepers, how I to see in differents goalkeeper shirts (sweaters). May
be I mistake. 1 - James Trill, 2 -Arthur Riley, 3 - Elisha Scott. Right photo, this color
photo was made Liverpool FC for video about history kits, before 125th anniversary club.
If to see have small detail, James Trill in (3) in red goalkeeper shirt (sweater), but
this mistake artist.

Interesting photo (1st image), if to
see full photo, on photo Kenneth Campbell, card was printed in 1923, but not know when was
made photo. I think when Campbell played for Liverpool (1911 - 1920). May be full photo I
will used after on my site.
This image training and goalkeepers' sweaters of catalog company Umbro for 1935.
Sweaters different not only colors, but:
1. Quality - Hardwearing, First League, Super, International
2. Knit - Ribbed, Plain Naval, Elastic, Scout Elastic
3. Collars - Roll
4. Wool - Long stapled all wool, All wool.
My be why will interesting know, but jarse Liverpool players
used in training. Here photo made how written, after celebrate Liverpool their win League
title in 1923.
Photo with away Division One match versus Arsenal, at
Highbury (01.03.1924). You to see this photo in section about third shirt. But in my each
season rewiev about Liverpool goalkeeper kit in 20s 30s years, you can again read, what
Liverpool goalkeepers, here Elisha Scott played in dark shorts (black, navy or gray), when
Liverpool field players. This practice only existed with the goalkeepers of Liverpool or
with the goalkeepers of other teams, I have no answer. Since you need to have more
complete information.
