In a end season 1984-85 the design home shirt has changed. Liverpool used home
shirt four seasons, 1984-85, 1985-86, 1986-87 & 1987-88. In season 1984-85 &
1987-88, this shirt was used how second home shirt. Liverpool used home shirt how in all
home, as and in more away matches. In season 1985-86, Liverpool used with home shirt
different kits:
Home shorts and home socks
Home shorts and away socks

* * - Unknown me now which kits used in this matches,
but I assume used away or third shirt.
In 1985 Liverpool changed their kit manufacturer after a long association with
Umbro. The new kit supplier was Adidas and the new kit was actually in use at the end of
the 1984-85 season for the fateful Heysel European Cup Final. The first Adidas Liverpool
kit was plain red with the three Adidas stripes in white on the shoulders and the sides of
the shorts. The stripe effect also carried on through the V-neck of the shirt along with
the end of the sleeves, Within the stripes of the shirt the Liver bird and the Adidas
badge are repeated and can only be seen on close inspection, The club sponsors remained
Crown Paints.
This was not first in history club, when in
one of match end season, Liverpool used kits next season. This was how in Friendly, as in
official matches. For example, in matches:
European Cup Final, vs Juventus (Turin, Italy), 29.05.1985.
Full list to see here.
In season 1985-86, Liverpool starter in shirt Crown Paints on
two lines, but after New Year, the design Crown Paints logo was change, written on one
line. Why was change sponsor logo, I not know (may be with problems with TV).
In season 1986-87, Liverpool again starter in shirt Crown Paints on two lines.
Written on two lines so it became larger (and easier to see on a TV screen), The shirt
badges upon the replica shirts are an embossed material where as they would have been
fully stitched upon the players issue shirts, a trend that has been seen through the
majority of Liverpool shirt since.
In season 1985-86, Liverpool used home shirt with special embroidery, this was in
matches FA Cup Final (10.05.1986) & Testimonial Phil Neal (12.08.1985).
Interesting fact. For FA Cup
Final was made on shirts special embroidery. On shirts for field players special
embroidery was made a round on Adidas logo, On shirts for goalkeepers special
embroidery was made a down club emblem (Liverbird & L.F.C.). Why as, now can only
assure. I think what special embroidery was made not one time.
This shirt
may have been one of the last possible, final designs for Liverpool's 1985-7 home shirt.
Owner this prototype shirt who sold on eBay, written what this prototype shirt was offer
management Liverpool FC for season 1987-88.
Code "sample" on the tag, only for .Adidas
prototype shirt.
How to distinguish a home shirt of a season 1985-86 from a home & second home
shirt of a seasons 1986-87 & 1987-88, very difficultly, only for design player number
(below).

I think what in sale, home replica shirt with Crown Paints logo in one
line, not was. One interesting, I have some photos with season 1986-87, when
Liverpool Reserves played in away match versus Leicester City (26.08.1986), in home shirts
with Crown Paints logo in one line (photo in left John Durnin). Was this only in one or
more matches in Central League, I not know. |

I think in away FA Cup matches versus York City (15.02.1986),
Liverpool used third shirt with CROWN PAINTS logo in one line. On photo Craig Johnston and

Interesting fact: For seasons

Course in middles 80s not was name for goalkeepers shirt how
"Second home goalkeeper shirt" or "Fourth goalkeeper shirt". This name
goalkeeper shirt for classification on my site.
All variants this goalkeepers shirts was used Liverpool

Have else one interesting, why for season 1985-86 was
made 3 different for design goalkeepers shirts?
In season 1985-86, Liverpool starter in shirt Crown Paints on
two lines, but after New Year, the design Crown Paints logo was change, written on one
line. Why was change sponsor logo, I not know (may be with problems with TV).
In season 1986-87, Liverpool again starter in shirt CROWN
PAINTS on two lines. Written on two lines so it became larger (and easier to see on a TV
screen), The shirt badges upon the replica shirts are an embossed material where as they
would have been fully stitched upon the players issue shirts, a trend that has been seen
through the majority of Liverpool shirt since.
In season 1985-86, Liverpool used home goalkeeper shirt with special embroidery,
this was in match FA Cup Final (10.05.1986).
Interesting fact. For FA Cup
Final was made on shirts special embroidery. On shirts for field players special
embroidery was made a round on Adidas logo, On shirts for goalkeepers special
embroidery was made a down club emblem (Liverbird & L.F.C.). Why as, now can only
assure. I think what special embroidery was made not one time.

this matches.
European Cup Final, vs Juventus (Turin, Italy), 29.05.1985.

goalkeeper shirt" (white color).

This two photo when Liverpool goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar played
in black-green goalkeeper shirt, I not know, photos was made with one match or with two.
Left photo, with away Division One match versus Oxford United (14.09.1985). If why not
know, color Oxford United shirt, yellow.
As how I not have good photo this design Liverpool goalkeeper
shirt, you can to see front and back side shirt. This black-green goalkeeper shirt made of
two photos with different sites (www.englandfootballonline.com),
(www.oldfootballshirts.com). Left photo, how written on site "England football
online", this goalkeepers shirt played Ray Clemence (photo below) versus Romania for
a World Cup qualifying away match in October 1980. Ray Clemence would probably have
expected to wear a blue jersey, as Romania wore yellow shirts. However, he took to the
field in a green Adidas jersey.
Right photo, this back side black-green goalkeeper shirt, which played goalkeeper
Steaua Bucharest, years used 1980-84. Front side Steaua goalkeeper shirt, different some
small details.
As can understand what company Adidas made this style goalkeepers shirt 6 or more
years.
