How born Liverpool all
red kit
Liverpool wear all red for the first time. According to Ian St John Shankly
"thought the colour scheme would carry psychological impact — red for danger, red
for power. He came into the dressing room one day and threw a pair of red shorts to Ronnie
Yeats. 'Get into those shorts and let’s see how you look,' he said. 'Christ, Ronnie, you
look awesome, terrifying. You look 7ft tall.' 'Why not go the whole hog, boss?' I
suggested. 'Why not wear red socks? Let’s go out all in red.' Shankly approved and an
iconic kit was born." |
Liverpool FC pre-season photo (may be August 1967), on front
row youth team players, for some youth players home shirts with short sleeve and away
socks. Difficult say, used youth teams (A & B) players home shirts with short sleeve n
matches Lancashire League or not.

Else wish remember about tracksuit top on Bob Paisley, how you to see this tracksuit top
manufacturer not Umbro, manufacturer company Gola.
1st image, Umbro label (not with Liverpool shirt) with shirt
made in 1962 to 1965 year. 2nd image, Umbro label with shirt made in 1965 to 1968 year.
How to distinguish a shirt of a season 1962-63, from a shirt of a season 1967-68,
very difficultly. Most likely, it is distinctions in design of a label of firm of
manufacturer Umbro under a collar. But now not as more shirts used in seasons 1962-68 in
collections.

After returning Liverpool in One Division in 1962, main changed in design away

Interesting fact. In left image photo (Roger Hunt) with away Division One match versus

understand not welcome, but as I understand not prohibited from.
In season 1966-67, same as usual versus Southampton, Liverpool played in white
shorts, photo down.

Interesting fact. In left image not player Liverpool F.C., but you to see shirt similar to

Third players shirt
Manufacturer: Umbro
Years worn: 1966-68
In this third shirt Liverpool may be first played in home European Cup match versus
Arsenal, 28.08.1967, 0-2, at Highbury.
In a season 1966-67 the design third shirt has changed. Liverpool used third shirt
two seasons, 1966-67 & 1967-68 (time of use shirt is probably inexact).
T 1.0 - Third shirt (without Liverbird & L.F.C.)
with away shorts & third socks.
Why on my site you can read "Third player
shirt", only for classification of the kits. on my site.
Else some years ago I think what first in history Liverpool FC in yellow
colour shirt we played 14 December 1966, in home match European Cup versus Ajax
(Netherlands), at Anfield, But this not as, for July 2019 I know whatUsed Liverpool these
third shirts in seasons 1962-63 to 1967-68, I now not know. I have now with this match
only these black-white photos. In Internet also have video with match versus Ajax, but
video bad quality.
In this design third shirt Liverpool may be first played in home FA Cup match
versus Accrington Stanley, 07.01.1956, 2-0, at Anfield.
Liverpool goalkeeper Dave Underwood is challenged by an
Accrington Stanley forward during the third-round FA Cup tie.
The small background of occurrence of this colour photo, of course, it was
black-and-white and then, is painted. But at first the reporting on a match where there
was a following text «Liverpool were first out, in yellow shirts with white shorts and
their usual red and white stockings.» has been found in one of newspapers.
The question is natural, used Liverpul, in 30, 40 and 50th years yellow shirts, I
do not know. Can be us further more many opening wait.
Have interesting information with site (www.historicalkits.co.u). The Reds lost the
match 2-0 with Tony Hateley scoring an own goal. According to Graham Brack, Liverpool's
legendary manager, Bill Shankly, blamed the novel gold shirts for the team's bad luck and
had them burned. It would be 11 years before they would be seen in yellow once again.
Top, this fragment photo made in first half match, between
Liverpool-Ajax (14.12.1966). On photo, Chris Lawler (1), Ian St John (2), I not know name
Liverpool player (3). How you can to see, in red ring, red club emblem (Liverbird &
L.F.C) on a white oval.
What you read down, may be my midtake or errors.
Tony Hateley (9) scoring an own goal.
Photo with match at Highbury Ian St John, George Armstrong
and Tommy Smith, how you can to see on Liverpool FC shirt without embroidered club emblem
(Liverbird & L.F.C, embroidered on an oval).
David Moors (www.historicalkits.co.u), think what third shirt have black
collar and cuffs, I not know as correctly, may be collar and cuffs was red.

Interesting fact. In first I to
see this photo (top left) some years ago in book "Tops of The Kops" Peter
Crilly, left photo (Ron Yeats) was written “At Arsenal 67-58 – White top?”, but 22
September 2015, in internet I to find else one photo in right (Rooger Hunt). What
interesting in this photos, main, here on Liverpool third shirt without Liverbird &
L.F.C. Peter Crilly assume, what this Liverpool shirt, not white color, may be yellow. As
how photos not good qualities, not can say, as this or not. Match photos which to watch,
versus Arsenal may be Liverpool played 28 August 1967, (Division One). May be why help to
me and send other photos wit this matches, please contact us.

A G 1.0 - Away shirt (without Liverbird & L.F.C.)
with home shorts & home socks
That away shirt goalkeeper was, I have no doubt. But in the 60s, in official
matches, Liverpool goalkeepers could play in these t-shirts perhaps in two matches, It is
in the Cup Winners ' Cup matches, against Celtic Glasgow,
14.04.1966 and 19.04.1966. About friendly matches I generally keep silent, as there was, a
riddle.
Goalkeepers Liverpool FC in the vast majority of matches played in the home
t-shirt, like most goalkeepers in England. Away goalie t-shirts were needed only when you
can not use home goalkeeper shirts, because of the color collision, that is, if the
opponent's shirts were green or green-white. Only such clubs in England in those days was
not enough, I come to mind, only clubs Plymouth Argyle and Yeovil Town. In Scotland, the
clubs are Celtic Glasgow and Hibernian Edinburgh.
How to distinguish a shirt of a season 1965-66, from a shirt of a seasons 1966-70,
