Here write what home shirt with turn-down collar was used
Liverpool field players with season 1947-48 to season 1957-58. For all this season home
shirts have change in design collar, this color collar as an different design button
section on the collar. Change was small, but if to see two home shirt, we to watch
different (to see down)!
In season 1952-53, Liverpool used also home shirt with white
lining on the button section on the collar. This shirt was made of lightweight cotton
interlock fabric.
Now in world in open collection have 2 Liverpool home shirt
50 years. This home shirt may be with seaso1949-50 (left photo).
My pages about history of Liverpool shirts in 50th years,
most likely, contain mistakes in dating use of a shirt with a while turn-down collars. Why
it is difficult, not so it is a lot of photos (at me) these years and very little where
there is a date when the photo is made. It concerns also a photo of a Liverpool team.
Last information (24.10.2016) which I to find this, in May
and June 1953, Liverpool FC, was tour in USA and Canada. In some match this tour was used
away shirt with Liverbird (photo in top left page, Billy Liddell A 1.1) and photo down. I
have only one photo with this tour. Only not understand me, why patch with Liverbird not
will make for home shirt. Assume can all what to go in head.

In a end season 1952-53 the design away shirt (Liverbird) has changed. Liverpool

Interesting fact: Liverpool used home shirtt with turn-down collar two variant, but
different thickness of a fabric, lightweight or heavyweight cotton interlock fabric. As
and may be with away shirt. I understand what away shirt of heavyweight cotton
interlock fabric was used in cold weather.
Now in world in open collection have 4 Liverpool away shirt
50 years. This away shirt with FA Cup Final 1950 (left photo № 9 Albert Stubbins). |

Down we can to see matches list when used away kits was. In section A 1.0 / H 1.0 have teams how: Blackpool, Stoke City, Sunderland and
Wolverhampton Wanderers. Why this team here, as how I not have photos or information with
this match. In some seasons, Liverpool played in away matches with these teams in home
kits. Also I not know which kits played Liverpool in summer 1953, tour to USA and Canada.

In season 1952-53, in home and away matches Liverpool used with home goalkeeper

H G 1.0 - Home goalkeeper shirt with away shorts &

Of course in 20-30-40-50s years goalkeepers played not in goalkeeper shirt, they
played in woolen a sweater. Sweaters was different colors, but main was green.
If Liverpool field players to go in pitch with season 1939-40
in shirts with player numbers, Liverpool goalkeepers played in this season how and late in
goalkeeper shirts without player number. Only with season 1974-75, on Liverpool goalkeeper
shirt can to see player number.
Interesting fact. Liverpool
soalkeepers in more matches used home goalkeeper shirt, away shorts (black or navy). Even
if field players were in home (white) shorts. Goalkeepers of contenders played cowards, as
well as field players. Fragment of photo with match Bolton Wanderers-Liverpool
(11.10.1952), Charlie Ashcroft .
It most likely was the private rule, whether all clubs adhered to it, I do not
know.
