125 years ago today, Liverpool FC was formed
15th March 2017
Today marks 125 years since Liverpool FC was formed.
On March 15, 1892, John Houlding famously broke from the board of Everton to form a
new club - Liverpool.
Club historian and museum curator Stephen Done explains: "It’s perhaps not
widely known that Liverpool FC’s founding father and first president, John Houlding, was
originally president of Everton but, after a huge fall out over a number of issues
including rent, he was removed from his position.
"This left Houlding and his colleagues with a fine football ground but no team
and no name! The evening of March 15 at Houlding’s home, Stanley House, a new club was
proposed and given the name Liverpool Football Club.
"And so began the plans to recruit new players and to formally enter the
Football League. By June 3, Liverpool Football Club was official."
The club will mark its official 125th birthday on June 3, 2017 - the day the club
was officially recognised by the Board of Trade in 1892.
This year, 125th birthday celebrations will be kicked off with the release of a
special anniversary LFC crest, which will be revealed on next season’s kit in April.
Details of how fans can get involved in the club’s 125th anniversary will be
announced in the coming weeks.

Revealed: LFC's 125th anniversary home kit for
2017-18
27 April 2017
Liverpool FC's new home kit for the 2017-18 season – which celebrates the club's
125th anniversary – has been revealed and is now available to pre-order in store and
online.
The New Balance strip features the club’s commemorative crest for the first time,
with the Liver bird emblem flanked by ‘1892’ and ‘2017’ embroidered onto the
breast of the shirt – a unique element of the team’s kits for the next campaign.
The design is firmly rooted in LFC history and takes inspiration from previous
kits: returning to a rich, darker red and incorporating tonal pin stripes, with the jersey
framed by a v-neck white-tipped collar.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: “There is a huge sense of pride that
comes with wearing an LFC shirt and it is always an honour, but this kit is special.
“Our 125th anniversary is a great moment for us all to celebrate our heritage and
this kit really reflects that, especially as it features the anniversary crest – we’ll
wear it with pride.”
New Balance’s kit design is rooted in LFC history, drawing particular influence
from previous strips – including that worn for the 1984 European Cup final in Rome.
Returning to a rich, darker red, the retro-style shirt incorporates tonal pin
stripes which acknowledge the all-conquering Reds teams of the 1980s.
The jersey is framed with a v-neck white-tipped collar and the strip is completed,
of course, by red shorts and red socks with white trim.
The new home goalkeeper kit has a rich green design with a white crest and white
New Balance and Standard Chartered branding, completed by a tonal three-colour sleeve
pattern.

Reds to show respect with poppy shirts
23rd Oct 2017
Liverpool will play in special shirts embroidered with poppies to commemorate
Remembrance weekend when they host Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds' players will also sign their jerseys and donate them to the Royal British
Legion to auction to raise valuable funds.
Last year, the special edition poppy-embroidered shirts worn by Liverpool during
their fixture with Watford at Anfield raised over Ј13,000 for the Royal British Legion.
These vital funds help the Legion's work supporting today's generation of armed
forces families and veterans, whether they are living with an injury or illness, coping
with bereavement or finding employment.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: "It's an honour for the team to be
able to thank the armed forces and their families for everything they do.
"Their sacrifice is great and it's important for us to pay our respects to
them at Anfield this weekend and remember all those who lost their lives serving their
country."
In addition to a minute's silence before kick-off, the teams will be led onto the
pitch by Legion standard bearers Lyndsey Taggart and Eddie Flaherty, together with Colour
Sergeant John Grimes and Lance Corporal John O'Neil from the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment
Local Infantry Battalion, 4 Lancs.
Further support to the Poppy Appeal will be given through an article published in
the matchday programme, perimeter LED board advertising and a pre-match bucket collection.
The LFC Premier League Poppy Pin, which features the club crest and Royal British
Legion poppy, is on sale now in club stores, LFC's official online store and via the Royal
Britsih Legion's online poppy shop. All proceeds raised from sales of the badge, which is
priced at Ј3.50, will go directly to the Royal British Legion.
The Royal British Legion's director of fundraising, Claire Rowcliffe, said:
"The Poppy Appeal 2017 is encouraging the public to recognise that your poppy
supports the armed forces community past and present, and is a symbol of both remembrance
and hope.
"The work of the Legion is as relevant and vital today as it was in the
aftermath of the First World War when the charity was founded. The donation for your poppy
will help the Legion support today's armed forces community through hardships, injury and
bereavements.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Premier League for supporting this year's
Poppy Appeal and to the football community who each year dig deep and donate.
"The Legion's work is entirely dependent on the public's generous support, so
please wear your poppy with pride, knowing that you are helping the armed forces community
to live on."

LFC and Standard Chartered partner to tackle
avoidable blindness
12 Ocxtober 2017
Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC have teamed up to help tackle avoidable
blindness through the bank's flagship community programme, Seeing is Believing, for the
sixth year in a row.
The Reds will take to the pitch at Anfield on Saturday wearing the Seeing is
Believing logo on their shirts for the iconic fixture against Manchester United – two
days after World Sight Day.
More than 253million people around the world suffer from visual impairment issues,
but up to 80 per cent of cases can be prevented or cured.
This season marks the sixth in succession that Standard Chartered and LFC have come
together to support Seeing is Believing, with the partnership raising almost J300,000
through fan contributions, auction proceeds and bank matching.
Standard Chartered has focused on eliminating avoidable blindness since 2003 and
has reached more than 150million people through medical interventions, eye exams and eye
health education. Since inception, Seeing is Believing has run 166 projects across 36
countries.
To amplify awareness, build support for Seeing is Believing and increase
anticipation for the match, Standard Chartered has also launched a 360 binaural audio
matchday experience.
This audio piece, titled ‘Number 64 – Hear the Kop roar’ has been put
together with the help of visually impaired Liverpool FC fan Pat Rodaway.
Through this audio experience recorded live at Anfield, all fans around the world
– regardless of visual ability – can experience the passion of the Kop singing You’ll
Never Walk Alone, the song that became the club’s anthem in 1964 and is represented by
the title Number 64 for the audio piece.
Number 64 forms part of Standard Chartered’s season-long content series
celebrating ‘The Power of Numbers’ that commemorates the Reds’ 125th anniversary.
Following the meeting with United, there will be a series of online charity
auctions on Charity Stars in support of Seeing is Believing, where fans and supporters
will be able to bid for limited edition matchday shirts signed by the players.
All donations will be matched by Standard Chartered and mobilised to win the fight
against avoidable blindness globally.
David Fein, chairman of Seeing is Believing and group general counsel at Standard
Chartered, said: “I am inspired by the amazing support that Seeing is Believing
continues to receive from Liverpool FC.
“Eighty-nine per cent of avoidable blindness occurs in low and middle income
countries, affecting many of the communities in which Standard Chartered operates.
“This initiative is making a tangible difference to the lives of millions of
people around the world, and Liverpool FC’s support brings us one step closer to
eradicating avoidable blindness.”
Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer and managing director at LFC, added: “We
are delighted to partner with Standard Chartered for a sixth year to support Seeing is
Believing.
“By building awareness about visual impairment amongst our players and fans, I am
sure we can progress the fight against avoidable blindness and improve the lives of
millions globally.”
Globally, an estimated 36million people are blind, and a further 217million suffer
from moderate to severe visual impairment, yet in four out of five cases blindness can be
prevented or treated.
Through simple treatments and affordable surgeries, it is possible to transform the
lives of both children and adults, benefiting not only those who receive treatment but
also their families.
Fans will be able to bid for the limited edition items from Saturday’s game on
Charity Stars until Thursday November 2, with all money raised going towards Seeing is

Why Liverpool won't wear their new red home kit in
the Champions League final
12 May 2018
Liverpool will wear their 2017/18 home kit against Real Madrid in the Champions
League final.
It will be red against white in Kiev as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to secure the
club’s sixth European crown.
Liverpool will walk out for Sunday’s final Premier League clash against Brighton
at Anfield in the new home kit for the 2018/19 season which was officially released on
Friday.
However, they will revert back to this season’s New Balance version for the
showpiece occasion against Real Madrid.
Under UEFA rules, clubs have to state at the start of each season which kits they
will use in the competition and changes can’t be made.
Liverpool believe it’s only right that they wear the same kit which they have
worn en route to the final.
The 2017/18 home shirt was the biggest seller in
Liverpool’s history and the club have long since sold out.
As a result there won’t be a special Champions
League final edition of the shirt available with only the new home kit now on sale ahead
of Kiev.
To mark the end of the club’s 125th anniversary, Liverpool and New Balance have
donated 125 shirts and pairs of trainers to local children from Anfield schools involved
in the Reds Neighbours community programme.
The youngsters were invited to Anfield for the presentation and walked out on to
the pitch for a special commemorative photograph.
Kieran Baillie, a teacher at Florence Melly Community Primary School, said: “We’re
extremely grateful to both Liverpool FC and New Balance for these amazing gifts. This is a
day that the children will never forget.”

Interesting fact: After away
match versus AS Roma (02.05.2018) the club management had 26 days, for decision-making, in
what clothes, Liverpool will be in Kiev.
What we to see, was made on training walk out jackets with
patch when was special embroidery "FINAL KYIV 2018 NSC OLIMPIYSKIY - 26 MAY REAL
MADRID CF vs LIVERPOOL FC" (photo in left side page). Only walk out jacket made for

in Kiev. On Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk, dressin training midlayer tops without
special embroidery.
What we to see in day Champions League Final, 26 May 2018,
All Liverpool players (photos number 4, 5, 6 and 7) in any suits made for new season
2018-19. You not can to watch special match embroidery. Why as.
May be Liverpool have interdiction fom UEFA, what not can
made special match embroidery or print on suit new season (2018-19), but this special
match embroidery was made on tranning walk out jackets. More questions, if you know answer
or variants, please contact
us.
Interesting fact: This fragment
training walk out jackets. Left image, training walk out jacket with BET VICTOR logo which
will dress Liverpool players in season 2018-19. Right image, training walk out jacket
without BET VICTOR logo, but with stitched patch with next text "FINAL KYIV 2018 NSC

Why was not done special match embroidery on the jacket was
sewn on the patch, I don't know. Perhaps it was easier to make. I don't think there's a
"BET VICTOR" under the patch.

tournament in Hong Kong at the last moment and the team's kitman did not have time to
create the right shirt style. This also applies to Ryan's third shirt. Dominic Solanke

Interesting fact: This is a

How to explain such a choice of t-shirt design is in memory of lost the FA Cup
Final against Manchester United, 0-1, 11 May 1996. The logical question is why will
probably be decided (if it is not a duck). Liverpool basically played in various finals at
home shirts. In the away or third form, Liverpool have won in the finals only, if I
remember correctly, may be only in three matches.
1 - Southampton (14.08.1976 ), Charity Shield.
2 - Arsenal (24.08.2001), FA Cup Final
3 - Bayern Munich (24.08.2001), European Super Cup

How I understand, Livepool kitman why work with Youth teams,
not willing to do the extra work, that is, the correct kit for one match. what I mean by

Fans will be able to bid for the limited edition items from Saturday’s game on
Charity Stars until Thursday November 2, with all money raised going towards Seeing is
Believing.

This is a
day that the children will never forget.”

will made third goalkeeper shirt with patch Audi Cup 2017, for Loris Karius and Simon
Mignolet (on photo in right), but how you know in this match played Danny Ward. Danny Ward
played in shirt without patch Audi Cup 2017. Else interesting on this photo, in Liverpool
loker room was hung on a hanger third goalkeeper shirt with long sleeve Loris Karius
(right), but in bench Loris (left) was in shirt with short sleeves. Before the match, he
shortened his sleeves, the question is natural, knowing that Loris likes to play short
sleeve shirts, you can not make such a shirt, and not cut off the sleeves before the
match. In center photo Danny Ward.
