In a season 1976-77 the design home shirt has changed. Liverpool used home shirt
two seasons, 1976-77 & 1977-78 (about used this design home shirt in seasons 1978-79

In 1976 the home kit changed slightly with a V-neck replacing
the collar and the embellishments on the kit becoming yellow. For some reason yellow was a
very popular colour in football kits in the late 1970s. Almost all scarves at the time
included a yellow stripe, irrespective of the club colours. Although it has also been said
that the yellow appeared to commemorate the winning of the European Cup.
This standard design of a home shirt, Liverpool used it with some changes seven
seasons with 1976 on 1982. In 1978 logo Umbro has changed Umbro logo size some small, In
1979 on shirts has appeared big letter HITACHI, in 1980 small letter HITACHI.

I not know, used Liverpool in Friendly matches away shirt. In official matches this

Liverpool in away matches versus Aston V (15.12.1976), was used away shirt (image

1976-77 Second away
players shirt
Manufacturer: Umbro
Years worn: 1968-76
In this design second away shirt Liverpool first played in ...
In a season 1968-69 the design second away shirt has changed. Liverpool used away
shirt eight seasons, 1968-69 to 1976-77 (time of use shirt is probably inexact). In season
1976-77, Liverpool used with away shirt different kits:
Away shorts and away socks
Second away shorts and away socks
S A 1.1 - Second away shirt with second away shorts
& home socks.
S A 1.2 - Second away shirt (black printed UMBRO logo)
with away shorts & home socks.
Why on my site you can read "Second away player
shirt", only for classification of the kits. This shirts cardinally different in
design with"Away player shirt".
On photo capitains teams Emlyn Hughes and Cemil Usta. Jale
Bayhan, a beauty from Trabzon, Turkey, makes the opening kick...
16 Jan 2021, Kieran O'Connor in facebook "Liverpool FC Historical Group"
publishing photo with away European Cup match v Trabzonspor. Liverpool played in shirts
with round collar. 6.11.1976 Liverpool again played in shirts with V-neck collar in match
v Sunderland. This riddle.
I as write, in season 1975-76, Liverpool start used away shirt with printed Umbro logo, if
to see my photo with match v Sheffield U (17.01.1976), we watch good Liverbird and slow
Umbro logo. Thanks Kieran O'Connor for photo. I will change page on my site about history
Liverpool FC kits http://liverpool-shirt.narod.ru/index.html
Course this riddle, why Liverpool used in match v Trabzonspor, away shirt with round
collar, as how in this time was in club away shirts with V-neck collar, how on photo in
Charity Shield match v Southampton, 14.08.1976. 6 November 1976 Liverpool again played in
away shirts with V-neck collar in match v Sunderland.
To go some days when on facebook page in "Liverpool FC
Historical Group" Kieran O'Connor publishep else one photo. Only with away Central
League match versus Burnley (14.05.1977), here Ian Ian Callaghan and Alex Cribley at Tuff
Moor. Can assume what in all matches when Liverpool need play in away kits, players used
away shirts last season 1975-76, with round collar. Also can to see on away shirt printed
black Umbro logo and on away shorts printed white Umbro logo.
This logos Umbro which was used on Liverpool shirts in
seasons 1973-74 to 1975-76.
How to distinguish a shirt of a season 1968-69, from a shirt of a season 1975-76,
very difficultly. Certainly, were for this time of change in design of a collar and cuffs,
labels UMBRO, and certainly since a season 1972-73 it is various design of UMBRO logo.

Now can write only one, in season 1976-77 Liverpool
goalkeepers used in matches not only goalkeeper shirts (big yellow UMBRO logo & yellow
Liverbird) new design. but and goalkeeper shirts last season. I cannot explain it.
This not 100% right information (if what will add), but with
season 1975-76 shirts was made of new fabric, nylon. Before Liverpool shirts was made of
cotton.
Second, Ray Clemence in season 1976-77 used goalkeeper shirts
manufacturer Adidas. This it was basically in matches European Cup. I know else about else
two match when was used goalkeeper shirt manufacturer Adidas. More read here.
In season 1976-77, Liverpool used home goalkeeper shirt with special embroidery,
this was for match European Cup Final (25.05.1977).
In Charity Shield (14.08.1976) match was used simple home goalkeeper shirt (photo
in top left page, Ray Clemence H G 1.11), in shirt not was special embroidery to this
match. The special embroidery as was absent in matches Charity Shield 1971, 1974, 1979,
1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 & 1992. Liverpool also played in 60's
Charity Shield matches, but and this matches used simple shirt, without special
embroidery.
In Testimonial (25.05.1977) match was used simple home goalkeeper shirt (photos in

In this design third goalkeeper shirt Liverpool may be first played in away

Liverpool used third goalkeeper shirt how in home, as and in away matches.

It is one of riddles for me why the goalkeeper of Liverpool Ray Clemence,
having a goalkeeper shirt (sweater) of company Umbro, as well as all tram, in a season
1976-77 in some matches of the European Cup played goalkeeper shirt of company Adidas.
Also, on this goalkeeper shirt there was no player number. In the Division One player
number was.
I do not think that it is personal, has decided to play in some matches of the
European Cup in goalkeeper shirt firm Adidas though all is possible. If who has
information on this paradox, shall be glad. Write to me contact us.
But the most interesting in other, in a European Cup Final, Ray Clemence again
played in goalkeeper shirt of company Umbro.
Also in neutral FA Cup Semi-Final and FA Cup Semi-Final Replay matches versus
Everton (23.04.1977 & 27.04.1977), Ray Clemence again played in goalkeeper shirt of
company Adidas. This goalkeeper shirt have not only along a shoulder 3 black strips, but
and white Adidas logo. Again on this goalkeeper shirt without player number. On photo in
left, Ray Clemence in goalkeeper shirt with Adidas logo and shorts with UMBRO logo
(23.04.1977).
This know only one, what in one of matches Division One, FA Cup or League Cup was
used goalkeeper shirt of company Adidas. |

1976-77 Fourth
goalkeepers shirt
Manufacturer: Adidas
Years worn: 1976-77
In this sdesign fourth goalkeeper shirt Liverpool may be first played in away
European Cup match versus F C Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland), 3-1, 06.04.1977, at Letzigrund
stadium.
In a season 1976-77 the design fourth goalkeeper shirt (not know how right named
this design shirt) has changed. Liverpool used fourth goalkeeper shirt one season,
1976-77. Liverpool used fourth goalkeeper shirt how in home, as and in away matches.
F G 1.0 - Fourth goalkeeper shirt (with manufacturer
Adidas logo & without club emblem & without player number) with home shorts &
home socks.
* * - Unknown me now which shirt used in this matches,
but I assume used with home shorts & home socks.
On this fourth goalkeeper shirt
without Liverpool club emblem & player number.
Why on my site you can read "Fourth goalkeeper
shirt", only for classification of the kits on my site.

It is one of riddles for me why
the goalkeeper of Liverpool Ray Clemence, having a goalkeeper shirt (sweater) of company
Umbro, as well as all tram, in a season 1976-77 in some matches of the European Cup played
goalkeeper shirt of company Adidas. Also, on this goalkeeper shirt there was no player
number. In the Division One player number was.
I do not think, that it is personal, has decided to play in some matches of the
European Cup in goalkeeper shirt firn Adidas though all is possible. If who has
information on this paradox, shall be glad. Write to me contact us.
But the most interesting in other, in a European Cup Final, Ray Clemence again
played goalkeeper shirtof company Umbro.
This photo (left) not made in season 1976-77, this Ray
Clemence after away UEFA Cup Final match versus Bruge (Belgium), 19 May 1976. His swap
shirt with goalkeeper Bruge, Birger Jensen (on photo left down). |
