Reds to show respect with poppy shirts on Sunday
2nd Nov 2016
Liverpool FC will commemorate Remembrance weekend by playing in special kit
featuring poppies when they host Watford at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.
After the game, the Reds squad will sign their worn jerseys and donate them to the
Royal British Legion for auction to raise valuable funds.
Last year’s special edition poppy shirts – worn by the team during their
Remembrance Sunday fixture against Crystal Palace – raised more than Ј22,000.
These vital funds help the Royal British Legion’s work supporting today’s
generation of Armed Forces families and veterans, whether living with an injury or
illness, coping with bereavement or finding employment.
In addition to a minute’s silence before kick-off, the sides will be led onto the
pitch by Legion standard bearer Eddie Flaherty, together with Joe McGowan from the
Liverpool Pals Association and Josh Hickey, a local cadet who will lay a large poppy
wreath.
Further support to the Poppy Appeal will be given through an article in the
matchday programme, perimeter LED board advertising and a pre-match bucket collection
around the stadium.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said: “Once again it’s a great honour for me
to lead the team out wearing the poppy shirts this weekend.
“It’s important to pay our respects together with our fans to those who have
lost their lives serving their country.
“We want to show our appreciation and thank all of our Armed Forces personnel for
the fantastic work they do, and their families who support them.”
The Royal British Legion’s director of fundraising, Claire Rowcliffe, added: “We
are extremely grateful for the support the Premier League clubs and football community
show the Poppy Appeal year on year.
“The Legion’s work is entirely dependent on the public’s generous support –
so please wear your poppy with pride, knowing you have made a real difference to the lives
of service men and women, veterans and their loved ones.”

.Standard Chartered and
LFC join forces to tackle avoidable blindness
13 Oct 2016
Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC are once again partnering to promote a flagship
community programme which works to tackle avoidable blindness.
Just four days after the global ‘World Sight Day’, the Reds will take to the
Anfield pitch wearing the ‘Seeing is Believing’ logo on their shirts for the iconic
fixture against Manchester United on Monday October 17.
Although more than 285million people around the world suffer from visual impairment
issues, the reality is that up to 80 per cent of cases can be prevented or cured.
This season marks the fifth year that Standard Chartered and LFC have come together
to support ‘Seeing is Believing’. To date, the partnership has raised more than Ј250,000
through fan contributions and auction proceeds.
To celebrate the campaign, Liverpool manager Jьrgen Klopp appears in a special
video which highlights the effects of avoidable blindness.
Following the match, the campaign will culminate in a series of charity auctions in
support of ‘Seeing is Believing’.
A number of matchday mementos will be up for bidding, including signed player
shirts, the captain’s armband, a pair of signed replica Klopp glasses and a signed,
limited edition braille matchday programme, produced to commemorate the fixture.
All donations will be matched by Standard Chartered and mobilised to win the fight
against avoidable blindness globally.
Klopp said: “‘Seeing is Believing’ is a fantastic initiative, and one we are
proud to support as a club. As somebody who wears glasses I know just how important sight
is to my career and livelihood. That’s why this issue is particularly important to me.
“I’m sure the generosity of our wonderful supporters will make the auctions a
big success and help contribute toward the ambition of eliminating avoidable blindness by
2020.”
David Fein, chairman of ‘Seeing is Believing’ and group general counsel at
Standard Chartered, said: “I am inspired by the amazing support that ‘Seeing is
Believing’ continues to receive from Liverpool FC’s players, its manager and its fans.
“90 per cent of avoidable blindness occurs in low and middle income countries,
affecting many of the communities in which Standard Chartered operates.
“This initiative is making a tangible difference to the lives of millions of
people around the world, and Liverpool FC’s support brings us one step closer to
eradicating avoidable blindness.”
Globally, an estimated 39million are blind, and a further 246million suffer from
moderate to severe visual impairment, yet in eight out of 10 cases blindness can be
prevented or treated.
Through simple treatments and affordable surgeries, it is possible to transform the
lives of both children and adults, benefiting not only those who receive treatment, but
also their families.
It is one of the most cost-effective health interventions, with a cataract
operation, for instance, costing as little as Ј20.
Standard Chartered has dedicated itself to eliminating avoidable blindness since
2003 and reached more than 123million people through medical interventions, eye exams and
eye health education. Since its inception, ‘Seeing is Believing’ has run 146 projects
across 36 countries.
Following the fixture against United, fans will be able to bid for the limited
edition items on Charity Stars until Tuesday November 8, with all money raised going
towards ‘Seeing is Believing’.

With a fitting tribute to the team that won the
European Cup on that memorable night in Rome on the May 25, 1977, the jersey has been
designed in black, red and silver – reminiscent of the colours of the matchday programme
(left image) thousands of fans still cherish to this day.
Black was chosen as the base colour to create an imposing canvas for the flame red
warning vents down either side of the torso. Silver trim has been detailed on the front,
including the iconic Liver Bird crest, to commemorate the club’s first of five European
Cup victories.
Reds captain Jordan Henderson said: “Everyone is aware of the history of this
great club, both domestically and abroad. This latest away kit looks great and having the
words of Bill Shankly on the kit reminds us of what Liverpool FC means, inspiring us every
time we play away from Anfield.” |
The kit has been developed using NB Dry technology, a moisture-wicking fabric that
helps keep players cool and dry whilst wicking sweat from the body, making it fast drying.
It also features a gradiated mesh to the back of the jersey, which allows for improved air
movement around the body compared to traditional fabrics and is engineered into the
construction of the fabric.
The shirt’s design has been developed using the latest heat bonding technology.
It features body mapping mesh to key zonal areas of the shoulders, running the full length
of the back into the lumber panel, and reinforced bonded seams down the side panels and
shoulders to increase comfort and reduce friction compared to traditional fabric
constructions. Laser-cut and bonded eyelets placed to the under arms further aid airflow
around the body. The jersey is finished with a silver-tipped shaped crew neck collar.
Bill Shankly, one of Liverpool’s greatest ever managers, who guided the Reds to
three First Division titles, two FA Cups, four Charity Shields and one UEFA Cup, has his
famous quote ‘Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool’ referenced on
the internal hem of the shirt.
To commemorate the tragic events of Hillsborough, the 96 emblem, encased by the
eternal flames sits at the nape of the neck.
The kit is finished off with black shorts, accompanied by flame red detailing. The
socks have built-in comfort zones while the foot-bed has been developed with polypropylene
to help alleviate excess moisture when the foot makes contact with the boot.
The goalkeeper kit is constructed with engineered Flex fabric panels to offer a
greater range of movement. These Flex zones are identified by contrast heat transfers. The
impulse orange design with black shoulder Flex zones is complemented by orange shorts with
black detailing and orange socks with black tipping.
Commenting on the kit, general manager of New Balance Football Richard Wright said:
“Liverpool FC is historically England’s most successful team in Europe and this kit is
a fitting tribute to that remarkable achievement. With the seam-free body mapping
technology and NB Dry each player will be competing in a truly advanced and stylish kit.”

what Jordon Ibe leave club 14 July 2016 to A.F.C. Bournemouth, Allen leave of club 25 July
2016 to Stoke City. After this match Sam Hart loan to Port Vale, for all season. Have

why not can made third shirts with numbers 24 and 33 and player family name

“red for danger, red for power” along the inner neck line and “Liverpool Players
must play like a Lion” from Gerard Houllier on the inside of the back hem.

Revealed: Liverpool FC's brand new away kit for
2016-17
16th June 2016
Liverpool FC and New Balance can today officially reveal the team’s 2016-17 away
kit.
The strip – part of the ‘Made for Liverpool’ campaign, reflecting on what it
means to be a Reds fan – is available to purchase online and in store now.
With a fitting tribute to the team that won the European Cup on that memorable
night in Rome on the May 25, 1977, the jersey has been designed in black, red and silver
– reminiscent of the colours of the matchday programme thousands of fans still cherish
to this day.
This latest away kit looks great and having the
words of Bill Shankly on the kit reminds us of what Liverpool FC means, inspiring us every
time we play away from Anfield.”
