first played in home UEFA Cup Final 1st Leg match versus Borussia Moenchengladbach, 10 May
1973, 3-0, at Anfield.
Since a season 1968-69 the design of an emblem of club has changed, it became more
simple, embroidered Liverbird and under it L.F.C.. Home shirts of this design with a round
collar and the embroidered emblem of club with some changes were used since a season
1968-69 on 1975-76. One of the main distinctions, this occurrence on a shirt of a trade
mark of factory of manufacturing "UMBRO". The trade mark "UMBRO" was
several variants. In home shirt Liverpool used how in home, as and in away matches.

In this design shirt with embroidered UMBRO logo Liverpool also played next two seasons,
1973-74 & 1974-75. But may be in first this was on Liverpool shirt, on goalkeeper shirt in 1971, to watch picture in right Ray Clemence in
match FA Cup Final versus Arsenal (08.05.1971). What color the middle of a rhombus, in
this photo or others, it is difficult to define. It is precisely possible to write one,
that in matches UEFA Cup Final, May 1973 and Charity Shield (10.08.1974), was used home
shirt with embroidered black-white-blue UMBRO logo. |

This Phil Neal home shirt was sold on 27th March 2002 of Memorabilia at Christies
auction house, Kensington London. Now have two this shirt, this know one, what they shirt
was used in matches and need only to find color photo or video. Which seasons this shirt
(embroidered black-white-red UMBRO logo) I not know, may be 1973-74 or 1974-75 or other.

Genuine player shirt comes with embroidered Liverbird on the
shirt.
As mentioned, this style of home player shirt got the black
stitched Umbro logo. This UMBRO logos which was used on Liverpool shirts in seasons
1972-73 to 1973-74.
As usual, the collar tag of UMBRO era Liverpool players shirt
is different from the replicas. Size information is always written in WORDS (OSM, meaning
Over Sized Men) instead of numbers in inches.
Moreover, intial "SH" was marked on the collar implying it's Steve
Heighway's shirt.
The numbers on the backside are machine-stitched pieces of
cloth.
