Liverpool’s New Balance home kit for 2020/21 season leaked – what Reds could have worn before Nike deal
  6th July 2020

Liverpool will start next season with a golden Premier League badge on their brand new Nike kit.

However, it could have all been so different for Jurgen Klopp’s champions had they stuck with their New Balance contract.

The English and European champions were forced to go to court with the American company after their refusal to honour a Ј40million-a-year deal, which ended in May.

Thankfully, an agreement was reached which has meant the Reds will complete the current season in their New Balance kit, before switching to their Nike strip which is set to be released around August.

Yet it seems as though New Balance had actually created three strips for the Reds before the new deal with Nike was agreed.

Reliable website Footy Headlines has released images of what could well be the home, away and third strips for Liverpool made exclusively by New Balance for the 2020/21 season.

Featuring a completely red home shirt with a darker crest and then a yellow away strip with a black and lime third strip it seems as though the Anfield side were close to confirming their new kit for the season.

In October, Liverpool argued Nike could offer more for their brand than New Balance, with Mr Justice Teare ruling in London that ‘the New Balance offer on marketing was less favourable to Liverpool FC than the Nike offer.’

It is claimed NBA legend LeBron James, musician Drake and tennis superstar Serena Williams will be used in the marketing campaign by Nike to help support the global appeal of the brand, with the judge ruling New Balance could not match this.
