Two batches of players shirts for Super Cup match were
produced by Reebok for Liverpool back then. The first batch omitted the "UEFA"
word, were finally discarded by the club as they don't meet up UEFA's requirements.
And of course the official worn version has UEFA word.
For this match was made commemorative and replica shirt.
The shirt shown here (Commemorative shirt) is one of a handful of shirts that were
produced as promotional items to be exhibited at the various Reebok corporate sponsorship
functions surrounding the event of the Super Cup Final, These shirts were normally
attached to large business hoardings around the business function rooms, to help promote
the event, and the teams involved, both pre and post match. Made to the same
specifications as the players shirts.
These replicas include the ultra rare UEFA Competition sleeve patch actually worn
by the players during the game itself. These patches cannot be purchased and were made to
a very limited stock amount to Reebok's requirements, This shirt is one of only 6 such
replica shirts in existence making it close to unique and one of the rarest shirts for
many years, It then came into my collection having never been used by any of the
functions.
Was used a special one-off match embroidery in capital
letters "UEFA SUPER CUP MONACO 2001" on the chest of the shirt. Was used a
special one-off match patch (on right sleeve). |

This tour was sponsored by the drinks giant Coca-Cola.
Liverpool's tour of Asia attracted huge attention as within this continent
Liverpool are very popular indeed, However not much information and pictures filtered
back, in fact its very hard to find any images of the games or shirts worn at all.
Next text about Asia Tour away commemorative shirts. The shirt shown here was produced as advertising by Reebok for the event,
These shirts were used by clubs PR department for the evening meals in which the football
clubs staff and players were in attendance after the games along with the invited
dignitaries from the clubs and towns that Liverpool were playing in that night, These
shirts were used as decoration around the walls of the restaurants, Only a few were
produced, thought to be around 10-20, some were given away and some were literally pulled
down from the walls by people who were invited to these meals {Kopcollector).
Was used a special one-off match embroidery in capital
letters "ASIAN TOUR 2001" on the chest of the shirt (left image). On

Liverpool announce Asian tour
Liverpool have anounced they are to take their full squad to play matches in Asia
for the first time in July.
The Reds will play against a Select XI from Singapore's professional S-league on 16
July and then head to Bangkok in Thailand for a second match on 19 July.
"It's about building a strong bond with our existing supporters," said
Rick Parry, the club's chief executive.
English clubs are keen to develop their fan-bases in Asia, where English soccer is
extremely popular, to give them access to new markets for their highly lucrative
merchandising operations.
Manchester United will also play three matches - in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and
Bangkok - in the same month, but the two teams will not face each other on Asian soil.
"We play them too often in England. It's more authentic perhaps that we play
against local opposition," Parry said.
Last month, Arsenal launched a Chinese version of their official website to cater
for their Asian supporters.
