1985-86 Home goalkeepers
shirt
Manufacturer: Adidas
Club sponsor: Crown Paints
Years worn: 1986
In this design home goalkeeper shirt Liverpool in played in neutral FA Cup Final
match versus Everton, 3-1, 10.05.1986, at Wembley.
Left image, was used a special one-off match embroidery
in capital letters "F.A. CUP FINAL WEMBLEY 1986" on the chest of the shirt (for
goalkeeper shirt). Right image, was used a special one-off match embroidery in capital
letters "F.A. CUP FINAL WEMBLEY 1986" on the chest of the shirt (for player
shirt).
I not understand why was made different embroidery for this match. One I assume
embroidery on goalkeeper shirts made not in one day with shirts for field players. It can
only be due to the fact that the Adidas logo is of different sizes. And you can't use a
template for field players 'shirts on goalkeepers' shirts.
Interesting fact: Goalkeeper
Bruce Grobbelaar always was not ordinary, excentric, quick-tempered and as they say itself
canny. In it FA Cup Final a match, it had a skirmish, with the partner on team, Jim
Beglin. All of us we remember its incident when Bruce Grobbelaar has a fight with Steve
McManaman, in a derby match of the Premier League, 18 September 1993. These are two
photos, after FA Cup Final match and after its termination, on it the hat and neck-wrap on
neck is put on, pay attention, not firms Adidas, the sponsor of a team, and firm the
Umbro, the last sponsor. In the second photo from a Liverpool locker room, it gives
interview, a near Ian Rush and Craig Johnston. On Bruce other hat, green-white. I could
read only an inscription on a hat in a bottom "FOOTBALL CLUB", and it not an
emblem of Liverpool FC.

Can assume what Bruce have
personal contract with Umbro, for use glovers company Umbro.
Michael Yip written to me what after this, match for used hat
and neck-wrap with the symbols Umbro was fined by the club. Whether this is true, I do not
know, but it is quite possible. |
This is how Bruce advertises Umbro gloves during a FA Cup
Final match, 20th May 1989,
