1984-85 Second home
goalkeepers shirt
Manufacturer: Adidas
Club sponsor: Crown Paints
Years worn: 1985
In this design second home goalkeeper shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo), Liverpool
first played (spare) in neutral European Cup Final match versus Juventus (Italy), 0-1,
29.05.1985, at Helsel, Brussels (Belgium).
European Cup Final shirt not have logo written Crown Paints, as how in final match
not can use team logo sponsor.
Why on my site you can read "Second home
goalkeeper shirt", only for classification of the kits on my site.
This was not first in history club, when in
one of match end season, Liverpool used kits next season. This was how in Friendly, as in
official matches. For example, in matches:
European Cup Final, vs Juventus (Turin, Italy), 29.05.1985.
Full list to see here.
Special embroidery ""EUROPEAN CUP FINAL 1985"
for match European Cup Final (with second home goalkeeper shirt).
Sorry, now I not have good photo, in this second away goalkeeper shirt Bruce
Grobbelaar played in European Cup Final match 1985.
Else some time I think what goalkeeper shirt in left side page was made for
European Cup Final 1985 match, but not used in this match. In December 2013, I in
Internet I to find photo when on Bruce Grobbelaar how I think dressed change goalkeeper
shirt for European Cup Final 1985.

Interesting fact. Now I can
written what left photo made before start away Friendly match versus Charlton Athletic
(10.08.1985), as written on site "Getty images", course cans other data. Phil
Neal captain, on it is dressed in third kits (all yellow).
Pay attention what a goalkeeper shirt it is dressed on Bruce Grobbelaar. On
goalkeeper shirt without CROWN PAINTS logo, but have special embroidery. On this match
Bruce Grobbelaar can dressed change goalkeeper shirt with European Cup Final (29.05.1985).
This shirt have turn down green collar.
Right image, my friend Michael Yip on Face book page The
Liverpool Shirts Museum help to me and also to interrogation in occasion
of when this match has been lead. Thanks Michael for help to me.
The visitor send this right photo, Bruce Grobbelaar in save. After visitor Martin Corris
written what color photo also made 10 August 1985.
If why have information why used this design
goalkeeper shirt in match versus Charlton Athletic (10.08.1985), please contact us.
100% on this goalkeeper shirt have special embroidery
"EUROPEAN CUP FINAL 1985".This screen shot of Liverpool FC museum.
What about this goalkeeper shirt big question. This
design European Cup Final home goalkeeper was sold for J1,000 in May 2008,on eBay auction
(screen shot with auction page).
Seller this goalkeeper shirt written "This was the first
time in their history that liverpool had worn adidas, and to add to the rariety of the
shirt there were no more than 2 of these ever made, one with a number 1 on the reverse and
the other with 17 even less than the champions league final shirts of today when many
replicas and match issue shirts are produced. i was only able to obtain this through a
extended member of my family who is Roy Evans, he was issued with his own shirt but also
obtained Bruce's shirt to pass onto me as he knew i collected them. i will provide a
letter with the shirt signed by mr Evans which proves beyond all doubt that this shirt is
the genuine article."
If why interesting, rewad full seller text here.
What I think about goalkeeper shirt which was sold on eBay
auction. MAY BE I MISTAKE.
1. I not think what this green goalkeeper shirt with white
collar was in Liverpool loker room at Helsel. I think what green goalkeeper shirt with
green collar (left side page) was in Liverpool loker room at Helsel.
2. On green goalkeeper shirt with white collar, have ADIDAS
writen logo, which not can on shirt which made for European Cup Final match.
3. Design shirt size label on collar, this style was firtst
on Liverpool shirtts made in England 1995. Sorry, what I now know.
Interesting else one detail, In Super Cup match (16.01.1985) versus Juventus
(Italy) Bruce Grobbelaar played in green color goalkeeper shirt, but in European Cup
Final (29.05.1985) versus Juventus (Italy) Bruce Grobbelaar played in yellow color
goalkeeper shirt. In Super Cup match Liverpool lose and may be on fortune Bruce Grobbelaar
change color shirt.
All season Liverpool used shirt kit manufacturer Umbro, but
last match season 1984-85, 29.05.1985, was used kit manufacturer Adidas. In what the
reason of such act I at present do not know, can, who has the information on it, write to
me in guestbook or on the e-mail.
