New Balance has officially revealed a special edition of the Liverpool FC 2017/18
away jersey. The shirt has been launched as part of the ‘Pure Liverpool FC’ campaign
for the 2017/18 season celebrating the Club’s 125th anniversary.
Only 600 boxed versions available Worldwide.
Inspired by Liverpool FC’s first ever strip worn 125 years ago in 1892, this
special edition away kit incorporates the original light blue and white from the Club’s
earliest shirt, updated with a quartered pin stripe repeat. The special edition jersey is
in line with the design theme for LFC’s 2017/18 home and away shirts with the use of key
iconic kit details from LFC’s rich history. In recognition of this date a limited run of
only 1892 shirts will be made available worldwide, each embossed with the special 125th
anniversary crest, a feature on all kits in the 2017/18 New Balance LFC kit collection.
The jersey features thermo regulatory properties, activated by bonded vents in the
material. When the player is hot and perspiring, the laser cut vents open to increasing
airflow to the body, providing a cooling effect. At lower temperatures the vents close to
help restore the body’s heat.
To commemorate the tragic events of Hillsborough, the 96 emblem, encased by the
eternal flames, sits at the nape of the neck.
Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson said: “It is an honour to be captain of
Liverpool FC as it celebrates its 125th anniversary. When you play at Anfield, you are
aware of the history that surrounds the Club and what it means to the fans both in
Liverpool and around the world. This special edition kit is a fitting tribute to celebrate
the clubs 125th anniversary and one that I am sure it will be really popular with the
fans.”

shirt boxed set
23rd June 2017
To celebrate Liverpool FC's 125th anniversary, the club has produced a special
double shirt boxed set which can be now purchased exclusively through LFC's official
retail store.
With a first release of 500, don't miss your opportunity to own one of these unique
box sets.
Each box includes a replica of Liverpool's first ever jersey from 1892, a 2017-18
New Balance replica home shirt with 125 anniversary embroidery and a book of 25 historical
photos, featuring club founder John Houlding, an aerial shot of Anfield and images of
legendary Reds players.
This embroidered club emblem which used Liverpool F.C. with
1935 to 1941 or 1946 on retro shirt 1892-93.
The 100 per cent cotton 1892 replica is a long-sleeved polo-style shirt in blue and
white with a three-button fastening. The jersey features a red embroidery of the club's
original crest, which was found on early documents, to create a unique replica product.
Stephen Done, Liverpool FC museum curator, said: "The original shirts would
have been made of very heavy cotton and looked and felt like a classic rugby shirt. They
had no names or numbers on the back, and there was no club badge, as was typical of the
period.
"In researching this new replica for 2017, a decision was made to opt for a
lighter weight cotton to suit modern tastes, but the museum curators undertook careful
analysis of the surviving photographic evidence to ensure the blue and white halves are
correctly replicated.
"The decision was made to add the club letterhead taken from a letter dated
1892, to provide a Liverpool FC crest. Although not strictly accurate to the actual
playing shirts of the time, it represents what might have been and in a style completely
in keeping the period."
Meanwhile, the set's presentation box features a timeline of LFC - charting the
journey from its formation 125 years ago to 2015, when Jьrgen Klopp was appointed manager
- and the club's lengthy roll of honour including, of course, 18 league titles and five
European Cups.
