Liverpool used home shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo) three seasons, 1982-83,
          1983-84 & 1984-85.
Liverpool used home shirt (big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines) two seasons, 1982-83
          & 1983-84.

In season 1982-83, Liverpool used home shirt with special embroidery, this was for
          match Testimonial Phil Thompson (10.05.1983).

In Charity Shield (21.08.1982) match was used simple home shirt (photo in top left
page, Graeme Souness H 1.3), in shirt not was special embroidery to this match. The
special embroidery as was absent in matches Charity Shield 1971, 1974, 1979, 1980, 1982,
          1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 & 1992. Liverpool also played in 60's Charity
Shield matches, but and this matches used simple shirt, without special embroidery.

In League Cup Final (26.03.1983) match was used simple home shirt (photo in top
left page, Mark Lawrenson H 1.4), in shirt not was special embroidery to this match. The
special embroidery as was absent in matches League Cup Final 1981, 1982, 1983 & 1984.

The shirt shown in image 1 is the standard home shirt with no
sponsor's logo at all, This shirt was worn when in certain televised and European games
from the first season of 1982-83 including the Milk Cup, FA Cup etc, However it was used
throughout the shirts 3 year life when for the reasons stated above as well as different
countries laws on advertising by sportsmen did not allow them to wear a sponsored shirt.

The shirt shown in image 2 is the first Crown Paints sponsored shirt to be worn by
Liverpool, The logo was a white transfer type material that was put straight onto the
front of the shirts, This shirt was worn for the whole of the 1982-83 season, It was also
worn for the start of the 1983-84 season up to around Christmas.

During the 1983/84 season the FA somewhat relented to club pressure when it was
decided that clubs could display sponsors logos on the front of their shirts in certain
televised games as well as English competitions, However the size of the sponsors logo
could not be more than 7cm in height, This presented a problem to Liverpool whose sponsors
logo seen in image 2 was around 10cm, To overcome this obstacle Liverpool decided to order
a new stock of shirts from Umbro with a new smaller Crown Paints logo, This is seen in
image 3 and as can be seen is quite a bit smaller than the original logo.

This was then worn during some of the early part of the 1983-84 season, When it was
then decided by Crown Paints and Liverpool that the logo on the front of the shirts was so
small it just could not be seen on TV or by the fans, And the words could not be read by
anyone watching, Crown Paints were worried they were not getting the best from the deal,
To overcome this new obstacle the only choice left open to Liverpool and Crown Paints was
to redesign their logo once more, One way around this was to write 'Crown Paints' across
one line of the shirt instead of two, Thus the letters could be a lot taller and the
company name could then be read much easier by anyone at home watching TV.

However as Liverpool had just taken delivery quite recently of a whole new stock of
shirts with the small logo seen in image 3 there was not the funds to order and produce a
complete new stock of shirts once more that season, To get around this the logo was
printed onto a thin piece of similar red cloth, This was then stitched onto the front of
the plain type of shirt seen in image 1, The end result was the classic one line CROWN
PAINTS shirt seen here in image 4. It was first seen in the winter of 1983 and was used up
until the shirt was changed in the summer of 1985.  (The text is taken with
          nonexistent already a site.)

May be with 12 December 1983, Liverpool in first played in home shirt new design

              | | | | As that is not strange, but, the difference in big CROWN
PAINTS logo two lines is found out, not so long ago (26.01.2014). Me about it was written
          by Michael Yip (www.liverpoolkits.com).
You can to see two variants home shirt. 1st variant Steve Nicol (left photo). 2nd
variant John Wark (right photo). Different in highly between UMBRO logo-Liverbird L.F.C.
and CROWN PAINTS logo. Two variants this home shirt was used in Liverpool matches, how in
season 1982-83, as and season 1983-84.
In season 1982-83, more photos when Liverpool players dressing in home shirt with
big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines 1st variant and not as more 2nd variant. First photo what
I to find home shirt with big CROWN PAINTS logo two lines 2nd variant, was photo with home
Division One match versus Notts County (01.01.1983), on photo was Ian Rush (it does not
mean, that I cannot be mistaken).
In season 1983-84, have more photos when Liverpool players dressing in home shirt

 Interesting fact. Home player
shirt (without CROWN PAINTS logo) not as more in open collection (collection which can to
see in Internet). Why as it is not enough. I think, what on more clear home shirt late was
made CROWN PAINTS logo different variants. I now not have information, what  CROWN
PAINTS logo was made in Umbro factory.

              | | | | Interesting fact. In some
collections Liverpool FC shirts, have home shirts with felt UMBRO logo and Liverbird, this
replica shirts. Of other side, this shirts have sticed player number, on left photo,
have  № 4, in right photo how you can to see № 2. Write what this shirt was used
in matches. What I think, for time when I write about history Liverpool FC kits, was more
matches when Liverpool used replica shirt. As can and in this shirts was used,
interesting, what this shirts full signed, in my head only one idea, this shirt was used
in friendly Charity match, after the termination which Liverpool players have undersigned
          on them.

May be what have photos, when on Liverpool players dress this
shirt, I shall be very grateful, contact us.

How to distinguish a home shirt of a season 1982-83, from a shirt of a
seasons 1983-84 & 1984-85, very difficultly, only for different variants CROWN PAINTS
          logo.

Of other side, this shirts have sticed player number, on left photo,
have  № 4, in left side photos how you can to see shirt with № 2. Write what this
shirt was used in matches. What I think, for time when I write about history Liverpool FC
kits, was more matches when Liverpool used replica shirt. As can and in this shirts was
used, interesting, what this shirts full signed, in my head only one idea, this shirt was
used in friendly Charity match, after the termination which Liverpool players have
          undersigned on them.

May be what have photos, when on Liverpool players dress this

              | | 1 image | 2 image | | The player shirt shown in image 1 is the standard away player
shirt with no sponsor's logo at all, This shirt was worn when in certain televised and
European games from the first season of 1981-82 including the Milk Cup, FA Cup etc,
However it was used throughout the player shirts 3 year life when for the reasons stated
above as well as different countries laws on advertising by sportsmen did not allow them
          to wear a sponsored shirt.

The player shirt shown in image 2 is the first CROWN PAINTS sponsored player shirt
to be worn by Liverpool, The logo was a white transfer type material that was put straight
onto the front of the shirts, This shirt was worn for the whole of the 1982-83 season, It
was also worn for the start of the 1983-84 season up to around Christmas.

At the beginning of the 1981/82 season Liverpool had a new
away kit, the first to show any significant change from the traditional kit. The away
strip became all yellow with red trim. Presumably yellow was chosen because it was already
included in the trim colours, through the yellow badge of the previous kit.

Next season 1982-83, Liverpool also changed their kit sponsor at this time to Crown
Paints, although they still had to wear a plain, unsponsored kit in Europe. Shirt
sponsorship was also allowed in televised matches from the beginning of the 1983/84
          season.

Aaway shirt was sold both with sponsors logo 'Crown Paints' on the front of the
shirt, as seen in the images on this page , and without the sponsors logo.

In the 1984-85 season the away strip lost the red pin-stripes and became plain
yellow with red-yellow collars and red badges.

Basically Liverpool played shrts without a Crown Paints logo. Probably, Liverpool
played shrts with big Crown Paints logo, in matches which were broadcast on a televised,
          may be I mistake.

In 1982 the agreement with Japanese firm Hitachi has ended three-year and Liverpool
has signed three-year the agreement with firm Crown Paints. The agreement with Crown
Paints will end in a season 1987-88.

How to distinguish a home shirt of a season 1981-82, from a shirt of a
seasons 1982-83 & 1983-84, very difficultly, only for different variants HITACHI and
          CROWN PAINTS logo.

across some years, can to find photo, when Liverpool played in this shirt. How all know,
third kits used in 80s years it was used not often, 1-2 matches for season. Collar this
shirt made in style home shirt, multi-color and consequently this shirt not can made for

The shirt shown here is a number 9 Ian Rush players issue
shirt from this era, This can be seen by the fully embroidered badges shown below, As you
can see this issue of shirt has the CROWN PAINTS logo on one line as opposed to two which
can be seen top. As you can also see the way in which the CROWN PAINTS logos are attached
to the Liverpool shirts was extremely crude, It was literally another piece of material
stitched right across the front of the shirt.

 Interesting fact. On site
          LFChistory.net here write
"Jake Findlay started in goal for Luton (wearing a Liverpool goalkeeping shirt, for
curious reasons we cannot ascertain). Findlay went off injured in the 38th minute to be
replaced by Raddy Antic, with Kirk Stephens, the full back, going in goal. Then, later,
Donaghy, another defender, replaced Stephens in goal, with Stephens returning to his
position as an outfield player. Both replacement goalkeepers also wore a Liverpool
goalkeeping shirt. So, Luton fielded three different goalkeepers that day - each of whom
conceded one goal - but performed well to secure a 3-3 draw."
This about Division One match Liverpool-Luton Town (11.09.1982).

It I interested me, and I tried to find the answer. Who
wants, watch on the "Youtube" page (here) small video the review of this
match. There is also a full match where there is an absolute answer, on why on players of
"Luton Town" of Kirk Stephens, and then in the second half of Mal Donaghy,
played in a goalkeeper shirt of "Liverpool FC".

My answer such is after the goalkeeper of "Luton
Town" Jake Findlay was traumatized, most likely, it was impossible to take off a
goalkeeper shirt from it, and the spare shirt in a locker room, most likely wasn't. And
here, "Liverpool" came to the rescue, having provided house a goalkeeper shirt
          of "Liverpool".

At the left on the right. These are fragments from this
match. 1st image, the goalkeeper "Luton Town" Jake Findlay in a green goalkeeper
shirt "Luton Town". 2nd image, the defender of "Luton Town" Kirk
Stephens in a home (green) goalkeeper shirt of "Liverpool FC". 3rd image, the
defender of "Luton Town" Mal Donaghy in a home (green) goalkeeper shirt of
"Liverpool FC". 4th image, the goalkeeper of "Liverpool" Bruce

How to distinguish a shirt of a season 1982-83, from a shirt of a seasons
          1983-84 & 1984-85, very difficultly.
